To tell you the truth, Jake, I lied a little. To myself, at least: I did bring the camera. Was missing a decent wide shot; a day later, still am. Oh, well. A few more shots of Ms. Haines and assorted others. But mostly kept the thing away, where it belonged.
Got there late, but this was mostly a better show. The set list again varied from the official plan (which you can see here). Kevin Drew sung a bit of Feist’s “Let it Die,” adding “I was told she’s here tonight, I don’t know.” After promising 20 songs, and finding the official list only had 19, Drew did a solo version of “All My Friends;” a beat slowly came from the back of the stage, and the crowd clapped along. “Late 90s/Shampoo Suicide” was in there, too, and I swear they could keep that thing going until next Tuesday without it losing anything.
Joy.
Once again, there was a time check at 9:30, but nothing felt rushed. Smiles, all round. Four BSSers took to the crowd during “Lover’s Spit,” tonight: Again Drew and Spearin hugged their way through, joined by the group’s violinist; meanwhile a jingle bell rocker crowd-surfed.

If you feel like stalking them, Drew promised they’d be in the audience at The Living Room Sunday night; their keyboard player is playing with one of the bands there (I didn’t catch which one). If all of BSS shows up, don’t see how there’ll be room for anyone else.
And, of course, Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw will return with their band proper, Metric, on Friday, March 10th. Openers include ex-Unicorns outfit Islands. Tix for that are here. Be sure to welcome her back.
