Face It: You’re Not Going to Get Guns n’ Roses Tickets...

posted 04/20/2006

...so check this out:

Bowery Ballroom, Saturday, June 10th:

Now, I know what you’re thinking:  Cover bands?  I could see one of those at B.B. King’s any day of any week!

And you could.  But that’s, like, all the way up in midtown.

Look at this line-up!  It’s a goshdarned extravaganza!  It’s so good I guarantee David Bowie won’t be taking up space in the balcony.  Look what it’s up against:

  • Dungen at Irving Plaza.  Pretty much Hair Supply in Swedish.  So, yeah, good point.

  • Be Your Own Pet/Whirlwind Heat at Maxwell’s.  First, BYOP’s entire show is going to last about as long as Peelander’s bowling routine.  Second, Whirlwind Heat is just awful.  Third, c’mon, get serious, it’s Jersey.

  • Cat Power at Town Hall.  She’s about as likely to show up as Axl is, and there’s no color-coordinated booger-picking Japanese-American punk band opening for her.  If only.

Face it, you’re not going to have more fun anywhere else.  So suck it up and buy your tickets like good little boys and girls.  (And June 22nd, in the same place, Satanicide. (tix not yet available))

Meanwhile, chew on this:

Peelander-Z – S.T.E.A.K. (mp3)

And yes, I know I owe you all a jillion entries.  And you’ll get them.  With interest.  Or at least some feigned concern.
