I still have a billion things to write up. But it’s Friday, godammit, and it’s spring, godammit, and as I was just wondering about Whale a couple weeks ago I thought it’d be a good idea to post this puppy:
Bonde do Role – Melo do Tabaco (mp3)
I’m convinced it’s the 21st-Century “Hobo Humpin’ Slobo Babe.” The only thing that’s wrong with it is that it’s 500 minutes too short.
Bonde do Role (“The Rollercoaster Band”) is a Brazilian MC outfit Diplo scooped up for his new label. Unlike M.I.A., these guys are only fighting for their right to party – stolen samples from Alice in Chains, AC/DC, and the Grease soundtrack are overrun by supposedly saucy rhymes (if you don’t speak Portuguese, let your imagination run wild). Rolling Stone stuck them on their annual “10 Artists to Watch” list, and I won’t even hold that against them. You can hear more at their myspace and buy their EP on CD or vinyl.
And because it’s Friday, here’s the 20th-c Hobo. The goofiness is still there, but I’m afraid the pacing’s fallen victim to an accelerated culture.

Enjoy your weekends.
(Until you get there, have yourself some awwwww: Sleeping PuppyCam!)
