PR Reps/Labels/Bands:  At this time, I am not accepting any free product.  If I like an album, I'll buy it.  (Who would I be to recommend a CD I haven't bought myself?)  Links to album streams, MP3s, or myspace pages can be sent to the e-mail address above - though frankly I pay little attention to press releases and their ilk. Sorry.

A Very Red State

posted 01/31/2006

Am behind in everything, but couldn’t let another day go by without commenting on the Palestinian election.  Tragic, just tragic.

Oh – sure, it’ll be a bit unsettling for those people living in the region.  I love how the international community is shocked – shocked! – at the prospect of (gasp) instability in the Middle East.  The reaction here sounds a lot like the reaction overseas after our last election, no?  People who perceive themselves as victims will cower behind those they think are strong.  So, Bush.  So, Hamas.  All hail the aggressors.

Whatever.  What’s really tragic is that, having guessed wrong, I’m stuck with skids of these puppies:

In these desperate times, it’s up to our fine friends at HappyNews.com to remind us we don’t need enemies.  Not with headlines that range from depressingly inane to just plain depressing.  Why, O why can’t the nice Chinese people have their New Year in a timely fashion?  Is FEMA responsible? (click photos for actual articles):

New at HN-dot-c (How is there not an exclamation point in their name?) is something called the “Do One Nice Thing” feature, presented in conjunction with my newest favorite site, DoOneNiceThing.com.  This week, “D1NT” honors “Nice People” who... collect used linens for homeless animals.  I shit you not.
